Shakespeare's Greatest Hits

Discover what makes him so great!

No time to see all 37 plays or read all 154 sonnets? Then come and enjoy the highlights of his work in Shakespeare's Greatest Hits!

The best speeches and sonnets will all be featured but alongside them come the great songs. From classical compositions to West End hits you can hear how the Bard inspired generations of composers.

Which “hits” have made the cut is something of a secret but actor Lance Pierson will bring words to life from Henry to Hamlet and Richard to Romeo. Soprano Belinda Yates and pianist Heather Chamberlain perform music inspired by Shakespeare's work, from Purcell to Cole Porter and Walton's Henry V to Bernstein's West Side Story.

The Bard himself will guide the audience through his Greatest Hits on the accompanying projection which includes famous images bringing each scene to life.

Run Time: 2 x 45 minute halves plus interval.
Abridged Version: Approximately 1 hour with no interval.
During the performance we project a selection of texts, images & other information.

"...we thought it was fantastic.... The performers were uniformly brilliant, and we were both very taken with the singer, who was superb - in particular [her rendition] of the West Side Story song was tremendous; a natural Maria.
Richard Harris, Composer, May 2014

"..what a joy last night was. Truly enjoyed it. Humming the tunes on the way home and reflecting on the Shakespeare."
Edmund Matyjaszek, Poet & Playwright, May 2014
